GATX Corp. engages in leasing and owning railcars and fleets in North America, Europe and Asia. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and currently employs 2,020 full-time employees. The firm's segments include Rail North America, Rail International, Portfolio Management and Other. Rail North America segment primarily provides railcars pursuant to full-service leases under which it maintains the railcars, pays ad valorem taxes and provides other ancillary services. Rail International segment is composed of its operations in Europe (GATX Rail Europe or GRE), India (Rail India). GRE leases railcars to customers throughout Europe pursuant to full-service leases under which it maintains the railcars and provides value-added services according to customer requirements.
