Nokia expects to make less profit than last year as telecommunications operators failed to upgrade their mobile networks.
Finland's Nokia on Thursday reported a stronger than expected 38% rise in fourth-quarter adjusted operating profit helped by higher sales of telecom equipment to mobile operators in North America and India, and forecast an upbeat 2025.
Nokia shares trading up premarket on Monday after disclosing several deals, including providing DDoS protection for LINX and upgrading networks for BBIX and ESpanix.
Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson expects the United States to continue to be at the forefront of technology development under President Donald Trump, which the company is ready to take advantage of, its chief technology officer said. The industry is now in full-execution phase of OpenRAN, CTO Erik Ekudden told the Reuters Global Markets Forum, adding: "Of course we intend to continue to lead and drive that industry development." OpenRAN allows operators to mix and match suppliers in their radio networks.
