Southern California is about to get its heaviest rainfall of the season, increasing the risk of floods and mudslides across the Los Angeles region and especially in the areas scorched by the Palisades and Eaton fires.
Forecasters are concerned the storm could bring mudslides in and near areas scorched by the Palisades and Eaton fires.
However, the Edison International unit has not identified evidence to confirm this, according to a filing with the California Public Utilities Commission.
Edison International’s utility said it is looking at whether a decommissioned power line started the Eaton wildfire as part of a probe into the cause of the blaze that razed more than 9,000 structures near Los Angeles.
Southern California Edison said video evidence had led it to look more broadly at whether its equipment might have been the cause of the deadly blaze.
Allstate Corp. said it expects about $1.1 billion of losses from the wildfires that ravaged swaths of Los Angeles last month.
