Waste Management, Inc. is a holding company, which engages in the provision of waste management environmental services. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas and currently employs 49,500 full-time employees. The firm is a provider of waste management environmental solutions. The Company, through its subsidiaries, provides collection, recycling and disposal services to millions of residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers throughout the United States and Canada. Its Solid Waste operating segments include East Tier and West Tier. The East Tier primarily consists of geographic areas located in the Eastern United States, the Great Lakes region, and substantially all of Canada. The West Tier primarily includes geographic areas located in the Western United States, including the upper Midwest region, and British Columbia, Canada. Through its subsidiaries, including its Waste Management Renewable Energy (WM Renewable Energy) business, the Company is also a developer, operator and owner of landfill gas-to-energy facilities in the United States and Canada that produce renewable electricity and renewable natural gas.
